(EDIT: A little clarification since I got such a nice response from a Redbox rep below and am currently extremely impressed with that kind of customer service - I was being facetious! I know they weren't trying to trick me. I probably just wrote the dang thing down wrong. lol)
I actually recall seeing previews for Lockout and being interested in it, so it was a pretty easy choice when we went to grab something. The movie is...it's pretty terrible, but in a good way! The acting is terrible in a bad way though. The plot is minimal - this movie is all about the explosions, cool fights, shooting, and a consistent humor that is rather at odds with everything else that is going on.
Basically you've got a smart ass secret agent who is accidentally framed for murder, etc. and he is sent on a suicide mission to save the president's daughter. The president's daughter needs saving because she is trapped on a prison space station type thing where prisoners are kept in a frozen stasis sleep and she was investigating hinky stuff she thought was going on when the prisoners break out. Most of them are very insane for a variety of reasons. Cue dramatic escape with Star Trek ship type ridiculous obstacles and random action the entire way!
I enjoyed the main character even if his jokes were mostly of the easy chuckle out of the audience with no real thought variety. There are a few truly clever hilarity gems though.
Even though the plot was light, it was still kinda interesting! The whole idea behind the situation they were in was very intriguing. I kinda of wish they had played a little more off of it or developed a bit of mystery around it instead of just revealing everything bluntly.
Overall, I will declare myself entertained! Nice easy action movie in spaaaaaace. Watch it with some friends and make a game out of trying to be a bigger smart ass than the main character. It will be difficult to achieve, but that makes it more fun.
