help me give kids an extra life!

Sign-ups for Extra Life just started! Extra Life is an amazing charity event where gamers play games for 24 hours to try and entice friends, family, co-workers, and/or complete strangers to donate. All donated funds go directly to Children's Miracle Network hospitals! You can find out more information here.

Last year I was a donor, which was an extremely important and extremely fun roll. I watched my friends torture themselves and got to make fun of them over the internet. Heh. This year I just couldn't resist putting myself through the same craziness! I will still be donating (especially if it means I can get one of my teammates to do something hilarious) but I will also be raising funds myself.

I am dedicating my donations to Sacred Heart, since that is my work's sister hospital in Spokane. And let me tell you people, Spokane is no joke. That place is a tumbleweed infested desert of a place. These kids need our help! Your donations could get them out of the hospital faster or help with keeping them entertained on longer stays. I mean, they already have to live in Spokane...don't you think they deserve a break when it comes to being sick?

I kid, I kid, Spokane. (Unless you're from Spokane and you totally know what I'm talking about. Come move to Walla Walla. We have trees here.)

The actual event isn't until October, but I set my goal extremely high--one thousand buckeroos!--so I figure I better get started!

During the actual event, I will likely be giving away Steam games and swag that I get from PAX Prime to donors. I wanted to do something special though for anyone who donates early.

If you donate to my Extra Life page from today (July 13th, 2012) to PAX Prime (August 31st, 2012) I will mark your name down on a list. From this list I will use a random name picker to choose three names. Those three people will get a custom portrait from me. Here is my Deviant Art page, and a few examples below:


Now, I'm not claiming to be some kind of art genius, but I love to paint and I think these are pretty fun! I'll mix a picture of you with any character you'd like. Or, if you don't want a self portrait, I am happy to substitute for a painting on a subject of your choice.

And don't worry, you won't miss out on the actual event. You'll still be entered for PAX Prime swag and Steam games, but I will only offer these paintings as a prize to the early birds.
